MSHA research guides
Public records are a starting point. These guides help you separate documented facts, service fit, and assumptions before contacting a mine operator.
How to verify an MSHA citation before outreach
A six-step check for identifiers, dates, status, the cited rule, and the business contact route.
↗Service fitPart 46 vs Part 48: filter carefully
Why surface mine does not automatically mean Part 46, and why a task-training record is not an annual-refresher sales lead.
↗Buying decisionFree MSHA data, alert tools, or a briefing?
Understand what different options do, where our service overlaps, and when researching the free sources yourself is enough.
↗Start with evidence you can inspect
Our public sample library contains four historical Pennsylvania examples. You can search by mine, operator, record number, or section; filter training parts; and export a temporary shortlist. Every example keeps its snapshot date, termination status, and contact-route limits.
The library is not a national database or an alert feed. If you need current information, follow the identifiers back to the official source and record when you checked it. If the record, contact route, or service fit cannot be reconciled, hold it for further research.
